Are you ready to enjoy a stress-free week at home? We’ll help you plan fun activities to keep the entire family entertained. The kids will love them, and your wallet will thank you.
Enjoy time in nature.
Instead of driving past the state park signs, veer off and explore what they have to offer. Many have camping, fishing, swimming, horseback riding, nature centers, fire pits, trails, and playgrounds; perfect for a day trip or a few days stay.
Start a moviethon.
Not a good day to be outside? Convert your TV room into a movie theater equipped with pillows, extra blankets, and bean bags. Create a smorgasbord of theater snacks, such as nachos, hot dogs, slushies, popcorn, and candy. Consider inviting other friends who are also on staycation.
Spend the day at a children’s museum or zoo.
Instead of rushing through all the exhibits, let your kids fully experience each hands-on activity and animal center. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy before your kids and spouses turn hangry.
Head over to Pinterest to find some fun arts and crafts for the whole family. Check out the awesome messy craft ideas that you can do outside. Look into pay-as-you-go art classes at local community colleges, art centers, and art shops. The family can try painting, pottery, or photography together.
Act like a tourist.
When living in a destination city, day-to-day life may get in the way of exploring the gems that are around you. Look up the department of tourism for your town, and see what attractions are in your area. Spend a day or two visiting what is around you.
Organize a scavenger hunt.
Depending on how daring you’re feeling and how many adults you have for supervision, your scavenger hunt can be in your backyard, neighborhood or an entire town. Pinterest has some great scavenger hunts already made.
Get a hotel room in your hometown.
Just because you can’t afford to fly across the country, doesn’t mean you can’t stay in a nice hotel. Pack the family up and stay at a local hotel for a few nights. Don’t forget to ask the hotel if they have staycation deals and discounts, and be sure to pick a hotel with a pool and spa.
With these spring break staycation ideas, we hope your whole family will be happy campers, along with your bank account.
