October is a tricky month to shop. It’s close enough to Black Friday to wait for the bigger, flashier Black Friday sales, but far enough that good deals now may sound too irresistible to pass up. As the month comes to a close, here’s a guide on what to snatch up before it ends, and what to wait on. Patience is a virtue!
Costumes: Look for prices on Halloween costumes to be slashed up to 75% the day after Halloween. Stock up for next year and mark it off your to-do list!
Candy: Halloween candy gets discounted up to 50% off immediately after Halloween. You’ll probably see a lot of BOGO deals as retailers try to clear out stock for holiday-themed candy.
Everything outdoor: NOW is the time to stock up on that patio set or grill you’ve been eyeing. As the warm weather starts to fade away, retailers want to clear away last summer’s outdoors gear ASAP. Also included in this category is camping gear, as camping becomes less of a hobby during the winter months.
Jeans: Jeans are a closet staple that is sold year-round. However, over the summer they may not be purchased as often. October is a great month for retailers to unload their unsold summer collection with hefty sales and price cuts to make room for winter collections.
Summer apparel: Don’t forget to visit the clearance section of your favorite stores! Women, look for steep discounts on dresses, swimsuits, shorts and rompers. Men can find great discounts on shorts, sandals, and summer tank tops.
Electronics: The best electronics deals are yet to come! As tempting as some October deals are, sit tight and pass on them. You’ll thank us later.
Toys: Toys haven’t even started to see their biggest reductions in prices. Unless the toy is a highly popular one you expect to run out by November, wait until holiday sales really kick off to make these purchases.
